Animatronic Crane Puppet

For this project, I wanted to combine my love for fabrication and character making with the coding and circuit skills I learned in my classes. I created a 4ft tall bird puppet with remote control animatronic eyes. The puppet was completely handmade and patterned out of foam, fabric, and wood. For the head, I created an internal structure to hold micro servos that controlled the side-to-side and blinking movement of its eyes.

I showcased this puppet and other projects at the University of Texas Arts and Entertainment Technologies Showcase. Where it was very successful with guests and students who were excited to see it in action and eager to learn how it worked.
